‘India gold he laayega’ – Fans react as India clinch final berth with convincing win over Bangladesh during Asian Games 2022

In the Asian Games Semi-Final encounter against Bangladesh, Team India won the toss and chose to bowl first on a spinning track. They made the right decision since there was some wetness beneath the surface due to the early morning rain. India did a good job by restricting the young Bangladesh side to a modest total. They now have a chance to advance to the first-ever gold medal encounter. 

Playing shots was difficult due to the sticky conditions. India’s strategy of calling in a second spinner came off handsomely. This is because they did deliver 16 overs using spin to destroy Bangladesh. The fact that just two players hit double digits reveals a lot about the opposition’s batters. The top score came from Jaker Ali with a 24*, while Parvez Emon scored a 23. 

Although Bangladesh has a few spinners in their lineup, it was difficult for them to get the spinners going. It was always more likely that India would chase down the 97-run target.

Jaiswal was out for a duck in the opening over for India, but it was the most the bowlers could do. Ruturaj got things going with a pair of impressive sixes, and Tilak quickly followed suit by flinging the ball across the whole ground. By the fourth over, India had reached 50 and the game was all but over.

India had been considered among the favourites going into the competition, and this performance may motivate them to win the gold. That concludes this game, however, the Indians will be back tomorrow to claim the first-ever gold medal in cricket. India would be facing the winner of the second semi-final between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
