India and Australia are set to face off once again this week but this time it would be during the start of the 5-match T20I series.
This five-match T20I series between Australia and India will begin only four days following Australia’s convincing win over India in the ODI World Cup final. The series is a part of the preparation for the USA and Caribbean T20 World Cup, which is just six months away.
The bulk of India’s senior players, who competed throughout the month-long ODI World Cup 2023 were rested for the forthcoming bilateral series between Australia and India, hence the side would not field a full strength lineup.

India’s captain will be Suryakumar Yadav instead of Rohit Sharma, who has been rested for the series. The only member of the Indian team who competed in the World Cup final is Suryakumar Yadav.
For the first three games, vice captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the team. Ruturaj will remain with the team as a player for the final two T20Is. Howver, Shreyas Iyer will be the vice-captain for the fourth and fifth Twenty20 Internationals. Ishan Kishan, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh are also part of the youthful Indian squad.
First-choice players in the Australian squad, including David Warner, Josh Hazlewood,Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh and Mitchell Starc, have also been granted time off.

Who will be the IND vs AUS t20 2023 Squad Captain?
Like mentioned above, Suryakumar Yadav would be leading the side in the absence of full-time captain Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya was the first-choice skipper after Rohit Sharma in T20Is. However, since he is on the sidelines, Suryakumar has been chosen for the captaincy role.
