The FIH World Cup 2023 is taking place in India and the tournament kicked off on January 13, Friday. India took on Spain in their campaign opener and much to the delight of the Indian fans, the Bharat Army won the game with a scoreline of 2-0. It was Amit Rohidas and Hardik Singh who starred for the team with their timely goals, putting the Indian team on the front foot early in the multinational tournament.
As far as the first quarter is concerned, it was a tough battle between the Men in Blue and the Spaniards, although it was the Indians who held the possession for the most part of the quarter. Fans, on the other hand, claimed that it was the first quarter that set the tone for India as they toyed with the Spain players.
Much to the delight of the fans, the vice-captain, Amit, scored the opener for the team in the 13th minute, right at the stroke of the first quarter whistle, putting the Indian team on the front foot right away. One has to agree that the Indian team marched on to the second half with confidence after a successful outing in Quarter 1.

To add more to the second quarter, it was Hardik who scored the goal in the 4 minutes prior to the first-half whistle, giving India the much-needed lead, as the team doubled the lead, giving no space for the Spaniards to make a comeback in the game. It was the fans who added charm to the game as they cheered for every single chance created during the contest.
The Bharat Army did create chances in the third quarter as well but retained the lead, as the Spaniards failed to get the better of India and match the lead. India ended up winning the game with a scoreline of 2-0 and started their multinational tournament campaign in style, making a statement early on in the World Cup.
