The LLC 2022 exhibition match saw some phenomenal performances from both teams. Harbhajan Singh, who captained the Maharajas, finished with figures of 1/21 from his four overs at an economy of 5.20. He dismissed the legendary Jacques Kallis. Sreesanth, on the other hand, had a forgettable day, conceding 46 runs from his three overs at an economy of 15.30.
World Giants reached a total of 170 courtesy of a half-century from Kevin O’Brien and an unbeaten 42 from Denesh Ramdin. Pankaj Singh starred with the ball for Maharajas picking up five wickets for 26 runs in four overs.
Moreover, this reunion between the off-spinner and the Kerala pacer showed everything is fine between the two and that they have come a long way after that controversial ‘slapgate’ scandal during the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League in 2008.
Harbhajan had allegedly slapped Sreesanth during a league match between the Mumbai franchise and the Punjab franchise. Sreesanth was seen crying bitterly after Punjab’s hard-fought win over Mumbai.
Harbhajan was severely reprimanded for his actions as he was banned from the remainder of the tournament that year and was reportedly not paid his fees as well. He also missed a few international matches as well including the 2008 edition of the Asia Cup in Pakistan.
After the incident, the duo was seen together on the field in many matches in the following years. Both cricketers have moved past the incident and share a great bond.
