‘Hamari ladki kisi se kam nahi’ – Fans react to terrific performance of Shafali Varma during second T20I against Bangladesh

Bangladesh women failed to win the game from a position they were expected to win from

At the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian squad won a low-scoring thriller to defeat a determined Bangladesh team in the T20I series. After scoring a meagre total during the first innings, the Women in Blue were under pressure, but Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma kept their composure with the ball to secure India’s triumph.

After scoring ten runs in the opening over in the second innings, Bangladesh was off to a flying start as they attempted to chase down a modest total on a slow pitch. The Bangladeshi chase, though, was hampered by the introduction of spin, as both of the openers left in quick succession.

When the Indian spinners began to dictate things in the second innings, Murshida Khatun and Ritu Moni also left the pitch cheaply. Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, decided to protect the fort at one end because her team was in serious trouble. She and Shorna Akter formed a brave connection that helped the home team’s chances of winning a game that would tie the series.

As Bangladesh moved their way closer to a remarkable triumph in a low-scoring thriller, she was also helped by some errant bowling from the Indian slower bowlers. However, India got a chance to remove the experienced Sultana, but Harleen Deol missed a difficult opportunity at a critical stage of the suspenseful pursuit.

The Bangladeshi captain got stumped by Yastika Bhatia during the penultimate over of the game, thus Harleen’s error did not prove to be costly. With the wicket, the home team lost all sense of direction and lost despite being in a good position during Shafali Verma’s last over.

Bangladesh keep India down to a mediocre total

Smriti Mandhana, together with Shafali Verma, blended caution with aggression to give the visitors a strong start. But following the Women in Blue gave away three wickets without scoring an additional run, India’s batting collapsed.

After surrendering four wickets in rapid succession following Yastika’s wicket, the visiting team never recovered and retreated in the face of Bangladesh’s slower bowlers. The Women in Blue concluded with a modest score of 95 runs during their 20 overs thanks to the spin bowling partnership of Sultana Khatun with Fahima Khatun, who did not let the Indian team relax in the middle overs.
