Real Madrid dominated Espanyol in the title clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 30 to lift their 35th La Liga title. In the game, Madrid won by 4-0 to lift the record number of titles. Brazilian Rodrygo scored two important goals for the team in the contest. These goals were scored in the span of 10 minutes i.e 33rd and 43rd minutes. Later, the team scored their third and fourth goals to secure the win.
The goals came in the 55th and 81st minute from Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema respectively. Notably, Carlo Ancelotti rested a few big-ticket players as he wanted to keep them fit for the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City. However, lack of a few star players didn’t have any impact Madrid’s performance.
With the win, Madrid coach Ancelotti became the only manager to win titles in every Europe’s leagues i.e in England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. On the other hand, Marcelo has now become the most successful Real Madrid player with 24 trophies to his name. After the game, Marcello said that win needs to be celebrated but the team needs to stay focused on important clash against Manchester City.
“We have won as early as possible, and that is everyone’s job to be celebrated. Today we have to celebrate, but we have an important game ahead. There is nothing to worry about if we do it right,†Marcello said after the match. Meanwhile, fans were elated after Madrid won the title.
