The Indian batter celebrated his birthday on Saturday.

Wishes pour in for Indian superstar Virat Kohli as he turns 34

Virat Kohli, the Indian great, turned 34 on November 5, Saturday and wishes have been pouring in for the superstar for the same. Making his debut against Sri Lanka in 2008, the right-handed batter, under whom the team won the U19 World Cup the same year, made a name for himself over the years.

The 34-year-old’s first century came against the same opponent in December 2009 and since then, it was no turning back for the great. A part of the 2011 50-over World Cup squad, Kohli put on a crucial partnership with Gautam Gambhir in the finals and played a handy role to help the team stay in the race, which, India won eventually.

Post MS Dhoni’s retirement, Kohli took over as the all-format captain of the Indian team and went on to become the most successful Test captain with a win percentage of 58.82. During his reign as the skipper, the Men in Blue did not win a single major trophy but rose to power in the longest format of the game.

Post-break magic for India

Going through a rough phase between late 2021 and mid-2022, Kohli was axed as the captain of all formats post-group-stage exit from the 2021 20-20 World Cup. The batting worsened and the talented star failed to make it count in almost every single match that he batted after the captaincy row. However, the batter took a month-long break prior to the start of the Asia Cup 2022 and roared back in the continental tournament, bagging his 71st international century on the way against Afghanistan.

In the first match against Pakistan in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022, Kohli regained his lost throne as the batter single-handedly helped the Men in Blue win the game with his unbeaten 82. With three 50s in the tournament so far, the Indian batter has gathered 220 runs in 4 matches topping the list of highest run-getters. As things stand, he would hope to carry on with his stupendous form and help team India clinch the title after 15 years.

Let us take a look at those who took to their social media accounts to wish the superstar on his birthday:
