MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane

Star India batter Ajinkya Rahane is known for his amazing batting performances in the longest format of the game. He has been one of the most reliable batters in overseas conditions for India. Though he is out of international cricket for the last year, he has made headlines with some amazing knocks in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

In the shortest format of the game, Rahane has displayed a completely different side of his game. In the ongoing tournament, he has scored 209 runs in five games so far. But his strike rate of 199.04 has stood out. Rahane has also hit two fifties this season, emerging as a surprise package for the Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, after his amazing performance in IPL and a decent domestic season, Indian Cricket Team management recalled him for the upcoming World Test Championship finals.

Rahane’s inclusion has been praised by everyone as the 34-year-old batter has an extensive experience in overseas conditions. Meanwhile, a recent report suggests that CSK skipper MS Dhoni has been consulted by the selectors and team management before Rahane’s inclusion. According to the report, team management asked Dhoni about Rahane’s batting performances in the nets and off-field status.

Ajinkya Rahane had an amazing domestic season for Mumbai

The Mumbai-born batter had an amazing season in domestic cricket this year. He scored 634 runs in just seven Ranji Trophy matches and the runs came at a healthy average of 57. He along with Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw led Mumbai to win some crucial games though they failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Meanwhile, one thing which team management will be looking for is Rahane’s performance in English Conditions. He has the poorest average in England and has failed to perform up to his Calibre. Rahane has scored 729 runs in fifteen test matches in England at an average of 26.03. The team will expect him to improve his numbers with some outstanding performances in the finals against Australia.
