Gautam Gambhir was one of the strongest pillars, of the Indian team between 2007-2011. He was ranked at the no 1 spot in the Test batters’ rankings for a long time. The opener also played two crucial knocks in both the world cup finals of 2007 and 2011. Like the players mentioned above, Gambhir also had a change of fortune post the 2011 ODI World Cup.
The batter had forgettable tours of England and Australia in 2011 in Test Cricket. From being ranked as no 1 test batter in the world in 2010, Gambhir was shown his way out of the team at the beginning of 2013. He also lost his place in the ODI team during the same year. He did make a return to the Test team on two occasions but couldn’t do much to seal his place in the side.
