Former Manchester United midfielder feels Rasmus Hojlund might be a gamble for the club
Rasmus Hojlund has been rumoured for a move to Manchester United as the club is in desperate need for a new striker
The Red Devils have been looking for another striker following Wout Weghorst’s summer loan agreement expired without an extension. According to reports, Rasmus Hojlund has been singled out as a key target. The Mirror claims that Manchester United is even prepared to give Mason Greenwood out to Atalanta to enable a Hojlund transfer. According to recent rumours, the Red Devils have considered a £50 million offer to acquire the Serie A attacker.
How Greenwood’s prospective inclusion will affect Hojlund’s pricing is still up in the air. Butt feels that the English juggernauts are taking a chance by signing the 20-year-old.
But you can only rely on recruitment: Nicky Butt
The former United midfielder said, “He [Hojlund] seems like the right fit, but it’s a gamble when you buy someone from a different league. He’s never played in our league and you don’t know what it’s going to be like when he comes here. But you can only rely on recruitment. You’re ultimately as good as your recruitment team so we’ll see how that pans out.”
The six-cap Danish international joined Atalanta this past summer for €17.2 million (£14.7 million) and a long-term five-year contract. He previously played for Sturm Graz. In 32 Serie A appearances, he scored nine goals and contributed four assists.
Atlanta BC News claims that Greenwood and La Dea have come to an agreement. The Englishman reportedly turned down Juventus’ interest and will be in Bergamo on Tuesday, July 11.
Since his arrest in January 2022, Greenwood’s career at Manchester United appears to be at risk. Charges against him included attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and assault causing actual bodily damage. But when those accusations were withdrawn in February, rumours about his future at Old Trafford began to circulate. In order to determine whether the player may rejoin the team or not, the Red Devils have carried out their own internal inquiry.
Mason Greenwood might perhaps rejoin Manchester United at some point, according to manager Erik ten Hag. The criticism regarding his prospective return, however, has given rise to prospective loan or sale possibilities.
