Former Indian team captain talks about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20I cricket

Former Team India skipper was vocal about the place of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Indian T20I side

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

After failing to perform well in the most recent T20 World Cup, it was suggested that the selectors would offer new cricketers more opportunities while keeping players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and possibly KL Rahul out of the picture for the game’s shortest format. Because neither Virat nor Rohit were chosen, the selectors again went with a very young team to play the five-match T20I series versus the West Indies.

The major objective is probably to limit their workload before the ODI World Cup, although the specific plan is still unclear because the Indian Cricket Board has not yet established a framework for T20 cricket. The former Indian skipper continued by saying that Virat was in excellent form during the recently finished Indian Premier League and that there is no clear reason why he won’t be successful in T20 international matches.

Both have a place in T20 cricket if you ask me: Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly spoke to RevvSportz about the situation of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the T20I format. He said, “Pick your best players; it doesn’t matter who they are. In my opinion, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma still have a place in T20I cricket, and I cannot see why a Kohli or a Rohit cannot play T20I cricket. Kohli was in great form in the IPL, and both have a place in T20 cricket if you ask me.”

The former Indian Cricket Board president spoke about the snub of Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad. He said, “They just have to keep playing. They will have to keep performing in whatever chances they get. It happens all the time. Only 15 can be picked in the squad, and 11 can play. So, somebody has to miss out. I am pretty sure their time will come.”

Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Jitesh Sharma were anticipated to fly to the West Indies to participate in the five-match series after having a fantastic season during the Indian Premier League. None, however, was able to join the 15-person squad. Sourav Ganguly said in relation to the same that if they continue to perform well, they would soon be given a chance in the senior squad.
