Sportspersons are one of the most talented people on this planet. They work hard all their life to master a particular sport to become the undisputed champion in their arena. But there are some sportspersons who’re so immensely talented that they try their hand in more than one game. There have been several notable names from various sports who ended up playing more than one sport professionally. Let’s take a look at some of these sporting marvels:

  1. Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is regarded as the greatest player ever to grace the basketball court. Jordan is a six-time NBA champion and ten-time NBA top scorer. In 1993, the legendary player announced his retirement from basketball and fulfilled his father’s dream of seeing him as a Major League Baseball Star, he signed for the Chicago White Sox.

2. Ellyse Perry

The star of the Australian women’s cricket team Ellyse Perry, who has won her team several games with her all-round skills, didn’t choose cricket to be her first-choice sport in her earlier days.

Perry is the youngest male or female player to represent Australia in cricket. She’s also the first Australian woman to have appeared in both cricket and association football World Cups. Another startling fact about her is that she made her debut for both the Australian cricket and football (soccer) teams at the age of 16.

3. Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes was the first cricketer who showed the world that games can be turned through good fielding as well. He is considered the pioneer of brilliant fielding on the cricket ground. However, Cricket was not the first love of a teenage Rhodes.

Rhodes was a great hockey player and was even selected for the South African Olympic Hockey Team which was supposed to go to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Much to Rhodes’ dismay, the South African team could not qualify for the Olympics and Rhodes could not partake in the sporting extravaganza.

He gave his hockey dream another shot in 1996 but this time a hamstring injury blocked his path. After that, he turned his focus on cricket and is hailed as one of the legends of the game, today.

4. AB De Villiers

AB De Villiers is considered as one of the greatest batters of the modern era. The swashbuckling batter can do almost everything on a cricket field. From wicketkeeping to taking incredible catches, De Villiers is a man of all occasions. Apart from being a superman on the cricket field, De Villiers has revealed in one of his interviews that he played hockey during his childhood days and was also pretty good at Tennis and Golf. Cricket fans can thank God that De Villiers chose cricket over those sports.

5. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has been India’s leading wrist spinner for a number of years. Chahal burst onto the scene when he became the second-highest wicket-taker during the Indian T20 League 2016. The 32-year-old has bamboozled many big names in International cricket. The secret behind his sharp analytical brain is that he was a former chess player.

Chahal has played for India at junior levels. He won the National Under-12 Championship in Kolkata, in 2002. He also represented the nation at the Asian and World U12 Junior Championships. Chahal wanted to build a career in Chess but lack of sponsorship became an obstacle in his path.
