The 15th season of the Indian T20 League will mark the debut of the Lucknow franchise. The team was bought by the Sanjiv Goenka group for 7090 crores INR last October. A Lucknow-based team has never featured in the cash-rich league in the last 14 years. The team was given the luxury of signing three players ahead of the mega auction, held last month. They signed KL Rahul, Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis.

The franchise added 18 more players to their squad in the mega auction and look a force to reckon with. They will play their first game against another debutant Gujarat on March 28. The team will be looking forward to starting their campaign on a winning note. In this listicle, we will discuss five reasons why Lucknow can win the ITL title in their maiden season.

Reasons Why Lucknow will win the ITL title in 2022

Strong top order 

The team had signed KL Rahul, who will bat at top for the team. The team has bought the likes of Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Manan Vohra, Kyle Mayers, and Evin Lewis. De Kock is likely to open the innings and Pandey might bat at number three. All these players are very experienced and one of the best when it comes to T20 cricket. 

Some players have played with each other in the past

Players such as KL Rahul, Ravi Bishnoi, and Deepak Hooda played together for Punjab last year. In that team, Rahul was the captain too. The likes of Bishnoi and Hooda will be familiar with the leadership style of Rahul, which will make the job easier for the latter.

Big names in the coaching staff

The team’s head coach will be Andy Flower, who was part of Multan Sultans in the PSL last year. Sultans won their maiden title after lagging behind in the tournament at one stage. Apart from him, Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the mentor of the team. Gambhir was part of the Indian team which won the 20-20 World Cup 2007 and 2011 World Cup. He also led the Kolkata team to two titles in 2012 and 2014. All these experienced coaches will help Lucknow outclass other teams strategically. 

 Quality Bowling Attack

The team had signed leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi ahead of the auction. During the auction, they bought the likes of Avesh Khan, Ankit Rajpoot, Dushmanta Chameera, Shahbaz Nadeem and Mohsin Khan. Most of these players are experienced in the ITL. The likes of Jason Holder, K Gowtham and other all-rounders can also be very useful

 Great all-rounders

The team has plenty of all-rounders who will add a lot of depth to the team. At the auction, the team bought the likes of Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, K Gowtham, and Deepak Hooda, who can bat and bowl well. They had picked Marcus Stoinis ahead of the auction. These players give a lot of balance to the side. The team can have a long batting lineup with these players.
