India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the game since last September. During a T20I series against Australia, he made a comeback after missing the Asia Cup 2022 due to a stress fracture. However, Bumrah’s injury resurfaced after playing one of the three T20Is against Australia. This led to him being ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 which somewhat had an impact on the team’s fortunes.
The right-arm pacer continues to stay out of the game as of now. In January this year, the Gujarat player was understood to make a comeback. However, the team management and the NCA didn’t want to take any risks. Also, the Mumbai Indians player in the IPL was expected to play the last two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy this year. However, this didn’t happen either.
Meanwhile, during the ongoing WTC final 2023 between India and Australia, Dinesh Karthik claimed that the fast bowler might make a comeback against Ireland. Apparently, the Men In Blue will play the European side in a T20I series in the Western part of the world. Notably, the series might take place before the disputed Asia Cup 2023.
Don’t want to take risks regarding Jasprit Bumrah: Rohit Sharma
A few months back, India skipper Rohit Sharma was wary of risking Bumrah’s injury. Apparently, the Indian team management did the same mistake before the 20-20 World Cup last year and paid the price.
“About Bumrah, I’m not too sure at the moment, of course for the first two Test matches he’s not going to be available,” Rohit said after India swept New Zealand 3-0 in the ODI series. “I’m expecting that; not expecting but hoping he plays the next two Test matches but again we don’t want to take any risk with him. The back injuries are always critical. We have got lot of cricket coming up after that as well, we will see, and we will monitor. We are in constant touch with doctors and physios at NCA and we are constantly hearing from them.”

He was the best pacer of this cycle for sure, despite missing so many matches pic.twitter.com/ROEBDnwszQ

I just doesn't want him playing any unnecessary games, just save him bubble wrap him for the ODI World Cup games later this year, without him we don't have another death bowler.

Glad to hear that. Siraj, Shami, Bumrah will more or less fix our pace bowling. 4th Pacer would likely be Shardul + 5th Pacer as Hardik. Umran/Arshdeep as the Reserve Pacer.
3 Spinners include Jadeja, Kuldeep & Axar/Ashwin (who can bat at 7/8) with Chahal as Reserve spinner.
