The Indian Cricket Board took a big decision for the inaugural season of the Women’s T20 League Auction. Five franchises are participating in the first edition of the tournament. Meanwhile, the official board has selected a Mumbai-based art collector, consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art, and partner in Art India Consultants firm, Mallika Advani as the auctioneer.

In the auction for the Indian T20 League, Hugh Adams, Richard Madley, and Charu Sharma played the role of auctioneers. All five franchises have also been informed about the rules regarding the auction of women players by the board of cricket in India.

All the franchisees will have to spend at least 9 crores with the inclusion of at least 15 players in their team. All the franchises have been given a purse value of Rs 12 crore, in which they can include a maximum of 6 foreign players in their team. The maximum limit will be up to 18. Meanwhile, a total of 409 players have given their names regarding the women’s T20 League, out of which 246 are Indian players and 163 are foreign players.

Rs 12 crore each will be allotted to each franchise

During the auction process to be held on February 13, the Indian Cricket Board has also issued necessary guidelines regarding the bidding of the players. In this, as long as the bid of a player is less than Rs 1 crore, then it will be increased by Rs 5-5 lakh. After this, from 1 crore to 2 crore rupees, 10 lakhs and from 2 to 3 crore, 20 lakh rupees will be increased in one go. On the other hand, if it is more than 3 crore rupees, it will depend on the auctioneer how much it increases but it will not be less than 20 lakh rupees.

The Women’s T20 League marks a tipping point in the legacy of women’s cricket in India. From the sport being available as a hobby to steps being taken towards an increasingly professional setup, the women’s game has come a long way.
