Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed many breathtaking performances since 2008 whether they are from bowling or batting department. Meanwhile, the 16th edition of the league is already started and there were also some magnificent performances produced by the batters. Many players also got maiden calls from their national sides after performing well in the cash-rich league.
However, today, we will talk about the fastest fifties in IPL history. Indian star opener KL Rahul is currently in the no.1 position in the fastest fifties list as he smashed a half-century off just 14 balls in 2018 while playing for the Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals. He departed after scoring 51 runs in 16 deliveries.
Pat Cummins has also hit fifty in 14 balls
However, last year, Kolkata Knight Rider’s speedster Pat Cummins also smashed a half-century in just 14 deliveries and became the joint fastest fifty scorers with Rahul. KKR were playing against Mumbai Indians and were on a urge to lose the match but Cummins came with an entertaining knock and played a brilliant knock of 56 runs off 15 balls. He even smashed 35 runs in a single over of MI’s Daniel Sams.
Before Rahul, KKR’s Sunil Narine and Yusuf Pathan were jointly holding the record. Yusuf reached the 50-run mark in just 15 deliveries and also played an outstanding knock of 72 runs off 22 balls and the knock came when it was most needed as KKR had to chase the target of 159 runs in just 15.2 overs in order to end league stage in top 2. There are many hopes from the ongoing season as many young batters who are playing in the tournament have the ability to hit the fastest fifty.
