Emraan Hashmi to play a prominent role in Sara Ali Khan’s ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’
Unannounced, Emraan Hashmi wrapped up filming a cameo in a movie available on Amazon Prime Video. He will have a lengthy cameo in Sara Ali Khan‘s biographical drama ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’. In this Dharmatic Entertainment production based on the life of freedom fighter Usha Mehta, the Jannat actor is reportedly playing socialist political leader Ram Manohar Lohia.
Mehta looked up to Lohia as a mentor, and he was instrumental in starting Congress Radio, an underground station that was essential for communication during the 1942 Quit India movement. It’s a minor but important part of the story, and Emraan’s performance more than justifies it. He was thrilled to add to this tale of freedom fighters and was happy to film his part in Mumbai last year. An insider with knowledge of the development told us that Emraan’s appearance intensifies the excitement in the movie.

‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, written and directed by Kannan Iyer, is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on March 22. It’s interesting to note that Emraan’s Disney+Hotstar series Showtime, which also premieres on March 8, will be his second release in fifteen days with this movie. The latter is a drama series set in a tinsel town that explores the power dynamics and off-camera disputes that take place in the Bollywood backstage area. Important roles are also played by Naseeruddin Shah, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Shriya Saran, and Rajeev Khandelwal in this show that was created by Sumit Roy.
At this exciting time in his career, Emraan is exploring a range of roles in South Indian and Bollywood films. He is scheduled to make his Telugu film debut in Pawan Kalyan’s OG, and then in Adivi Sesh’s Goodachari 2. Ground Zero from Excel Entertainment and Showtime from Disney+Hotstar are also on his schedule. This is his first appearance on an OTT platform in five years, following the Netflix espionage thriller Bard of Blood.
