India and Pakistan’s eagerly awaited 2023 ODI World Cup match has been moved to Saturday, October 14. The match between the two bitter rivals was scheduled for Sunday, October 15, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, according to the initially made public schedule. However, the competition will start on October 5 at the same location with the defending champions England taking against New Zealand.
However, because October 15 falls on the same day as the very first night of the celebrated Navratri holiday, which is widely observed in the Gujarati state with great fervour, the officials have decided to postpone the competition by one day, as reported by Sports Tak.
The delay in the first schedule’s announcement was due to concerns from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the possibility of playing in Ahmedabad. The schedule was supposed to be made public at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, however, it was not until June 27.
There will be a slight rearrangement of the matches as a result of the postponement of the India-Pakistan game. The article also states that the updated schedule will be made public on July 31st.
Fans had already made expensive plans for their lodging and transportation, which might cause huge problems if their bookings turn out to be considered non-refundable or cancelled altogether.
India vs Pakistan at the upcoming Asia Cup 2023
The forthcoming 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka is scheduled to feature matches between the neighbouring countries. The two teams are paired with Nepal during the group stage, and if they advance to the Super 4s and the championship game, they might play each other twice more quickly.
The group stage match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 2, at Pallekele. Using a hybrid format, the tournament will start on August 30 with Pakistan hosting four contests in total, including the first match of the competition. All of India’s games are scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka.
