‘Ek billion-doller team industry ko hum harate hain’- Ramiz Raja calls for respect ahead of mouth-watering India-Pakistan World Cup clash

Pakistan recently defeated India at the Asia Cup 2022.

Ramiz Raja, former Pakistan cricketer and the President of Pakistan Cricket Board often comes up with controversial takes on India- Pakistan rivalry. He has spoken against the Indian team on multiple occasions in the past. His spat with an Indian journalist after their Asia Cup 2022 final loss was the latest in the long list of vexed comments.

Just a fortnight away from the highly awaited India- Pakistan match in the 20-20 World Cup, Raza has come up with another of his hot take and said that Pakistan have an edge over the ‘billion-dollar India team.

Speaking to Pakistan’s news agency Dawn, the PCB chairman has said, “Skill aur talent se zyada mental match hota hain yeh. So agar aap temperamentally strong he and mentally focussed he aur haar manne ko taiyar nahi hain toh chhoti team bhi badi team ko hara sakti hain. And Pakistan humesha se underdogs rahein hain jab bhi India se muqabla huye hain, but of late, unhone hume respect dena shuru kardiya hain kyunki unke khayal me yeh hain ki Pakistan hume kabhi hara hi nehi sakte.”

We have limited resources compared to India- Ramiz Raja

He has asked to give credit to the Pakistan team as they defeat the Indian team despite having limited resources.

“So yehi main kehta hu ki Pakistan ko credit dijiye kyunki ek billion-dollar team cricket industry ko hum harate he. Main toh khud World Cups khela hu, humlog toh India ko nehi hara paate the. Iss team ko credit dena chaiye kyunki limited resources, compared to India, se prepare karte he and tagda muqabla karte hain,” he said.

The Men in Blue have already flown to Australia for the 20-20 World Cup. The Indian team has already begun their training at Perth in order to acclimatise to the environment in the island country. Pakistan meanwhile are playing a tri-series in New Zealand with the home team and Bangladesh.

India recently won two back-to-back T20I series against Australia and South Africa, meanwhile, Pakistan lost 4-3 at home against England. Both would be looking to start their World Cup campaign on a high with a win at MCG.
