Both clubs will play each other in the opening encounter of Indian Super League matchweek 7 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. East Bengal FC head coach Carles Cuadrat feels his side has to improve in several competitive elements to collect all the points against Chennaiyin FC.
By the end of the sixth matchweek, East Bengal FC had only managed to pick up four points from five games, losing three straight games against Kerala Blasters FC, FC Goa, and Bengaluru FC.
Cuadrat also often said that East Bengal FC is starting a new initiative. Despite his team’s recent poor performance, the Spaniard has high hopes for the skills and training performances of his players.
Cuadrat has utilised the previous several weeks of the FIFA international break to correct his players’ errors and prepare them for the forthcoming games. East Bengal FC recently defeated TRAU FC of the I-League in a friendly match. The final score was 2-1.
The Manager spoke to the media ahead of the game in Chennai. He said, “We have been taking advantage of the time because I think that we have been with the team doing more training during the FIFA break than any other team in the competition.”

According to the Spaniard, his squad is aware that losing the past three games by two goals has resulted in them losing points. He exhorts them to see their performance positively because they are just starting a new initiative.
The Spaniard said, “I think that we all have to try to be positive to understand that it’s the start of a new project and that sometimes you have to get the automatics happening in the team. The combination of players really supports each other, helps each other and knows how to manage the full game. So, I’m very happy with the work that we have been doing these last two weeks, and let’s hope that we can express that also on the pitch in the next game.”
