Dunki trailer review – Shah Rukh Khan takes the audience on a madcap mission ride of friendship

Dunki trailer

The trailer for Dunki was released as Drop 4 on Tuesday, following the release of the teaser and two songs. Dunki is Shah Rukh Khan‘s first collaboration with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The Dunki trailer begins with Shah Rukh’s titular character Hardy revealing his face as he stands on the edge of a moving train compartment door. This establishes the time period as 1995 in the village of Laltu. Hardy introduces his friends, including Sukhi (Vicky Kaushal), who is struggling to learn English, and Mannu (Taapsee Pannu), who is always ready to defend Hardy when he is mocked for his poor command of the English language. He calls her his “girl wali friend.”

Boman Irani is introduced as their English teacher, who promises to train them sufficiently to allow them to live abroad. Both Vicky and Shah Rukh’s characters are seen justifying their decision to relocate overseas without knowing their native language by claiming that the British ruled India for a century without knowing Hindi. Hardy and his friends are then seen crossing the border, putting themselves in danger. He’s even seen pointing a gun at an assailant.

Dunki trailer brings emotion surge:

The trailer’s most shocking revelation comes when Shah Rukh reveals his appearance as an old man 25 years later. Hardy is seen competing in a race while wearing a yellow and blue striped T-shirt and sporting a grey beard. After Vikram Rathore in Atlee’s Jawan earlier this year, this is Shah Rukh’s second role as an elderly man. Dunki is described by the publisher as a “heart-warming tale of four friends and their quest to reach foreign shores, it charts the arduous yet life-changing journey they are about to undertake to make their dreams come true.”

Dunki is a love and friendship saga based on real-life experiences that brings these wildly disparate stories together and provides hilarious and heartbreaking answers. Dunki is Shah Rukh’s third film of the year. He wowed audiences earlier this year with his action-packed roles in Pathaan and Jawan. Dunki, produced by Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films, is set to hit theatres on Christmas Day, December 21.
