In the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 finals between India and Australia, Rohit Sharma‘s side are trailing Australia by 318 runs going into Day 3. India scored 151/5 at the stumps on Day 2 after bundling up Australia for a massive total of 469 runs. Former Australia skipper Steve Smith and Travis Head scored magnificent centuries to help Australia in the top game.

Meanwhile, former India batter Aakash Chopra feels that India needs a miracle to get back in the game. In a recent analysis video on his YouTube channel, he said, “The road ahead is a miracle because you are still 318 runs behind. So you are way behind. The opposition team will not give a follow-on even if you save it. They will say that they will bat again and will ask you to bat in the fourth innings when you will have to score 550 runs.”

In a social media post, he echoed the same as he said, “Abhi toh we are trailing Travis Head by 12 runs…with only 5 wickets in hand. Need a miracle tomorrow to stay in the game…” Further in his video, he said, “550 runs are not going to be scored in the fourth innings, you can forget that. It can happen that when the match begins today afternoon, KS Bharat scores a run somehow and Ajinkya Rahane scores runs alongside him, and Lord Thakur scores a century. You do something and bring the lead down to 100-150.”

“You bowl them out for 150”, says Aakash Chopra

Further speaking about Australia’s second innings and how India can win the match he said, “Then when they come to bat, you bowl them out for 150. I mean all these things happen, the third day is like a miracle. If something like that happens, you bow down to the miracle. The truth is that I went 51-49 in favour of Australia at the start of the first day, I went 60-40 in favour of Australia at the start of the second day and now I am going 70-30 in favor of Australia because now the match is being seen turning a lot in Australia’s favor.”

He also spoke about the decision of leaving Ravichandran Ashwin out of the playing xi. Chopra argues that the decision at toss to drop Ravichandran Ashwin’s cannot be blamed for India’s current condition. He pointed out that it was the method they bowled on Day 1 rather than the bowlers they chose that placed them behind. Notably, India will be hoping for a miracle from seasoned batter Ajinkya Rahane and wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat on Day 3 of the prestigious game.
