Uncapped Indian players, Sarfaraz Khan and his brother Musheer Khan have scored a hundred each on the same day. Early in the day, the former hit 161 off 160 balls including 18 fours and five sixes in the ongoing four-day game between India A and England Lions. The Asian side amassed 493, leading by 341 at the end of Day Tow. He played in the U19 World Cup in 2014.
On the other hand, Sarfaraz’s brother Musheer scored a hundred against Ireland U19 in the ongoing U19 World Cup 2024. As expected, the defending champions won the game by a massive margin, i.e 201 runs
“I feel great to have hit my first hundred for India Under-19. I hurried on a bit for runs in the last match, so I gave myself some time in this match. Both our styles [his and Safaraz’s] are similar. The six I hit over midwicket was the best! I am glad, and I hope I can play as well in the upcoming matches. I’m not satisfied yet!,” Player of the match Musheer said after the game.
Sarfaraz Khan continues to pile on runs but still gets ignored
On the other hand, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore player has been piling on runs in red-ball cricket but has been ignored by the selectors.
“I was tracking both matches on my phone at the Hyderabad airport. When I boarded the flight to Lucknow, Musheer was on 45 and Sarfaraz was on 145. My flight from Hyderabad to Lucknow was delayed, but I was hoping it would be delayed further so that I could watch them bat for some more time. By the time I landed in Lucknow, I had around 700-800 messages on my phone. It was like a dream. For them to score a century on the same day is a proud moment,” said Naushad, who will spend the next few days in his native town of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.
“I am hopeful. Whether he’s selected or not (for India), he is scoring runs in every match. I have belief in God. I have belief that he will be rewarded today or tomorrow,” Naushad said.
