Star India batter Shubman Gill is going through a lean patch. In the ongoing West Indies tour, Gill has failed to be among runs, and his form has raised eyebrows. Fans and cricket pundits are concerned as India prepares for the upcoming World Cup. In the first two ODI games, Gill scored 7 and 9, continuing his poor form.
However, to increase his confidence, Gill must celebrate a new feat, which he achieved on Saturday. He surpassed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to register the most runs in an ODI after playing 26 innings. The 23-year-old Youngster has scored 1352 runs in 26 innings at an average of 61.5. In his brief career, he has scored four centuries and five half-centuries, including a double century against New Zealand.
Notably, in the last 10 innings, Gill has failed to score more than 40 runs. This is concerning for the Indian team management, which is already suffering from injuries. He and skipper Rohit Sharma need to get runs under their belts to help India get a crucial start in the World Cup. Players like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also need to fire, as they failed in their first two games.
It’s too early to judge Gill: Abhinav Mukund
Former India opener Abhinav Mukund has spoken about his criticism of Shubman Gill. He said that it was too early to judge him and that Gill should go to the World Cup. He also said that Gill has great potential and will deliver soon. “I think it’s too early to talk about Shubman Gill’s failure because he has had a phenomenal last couple of years. It is important as a viewer and as an Indian cricket fan to not mess up formats”, Mukund told Jio Cinema.
“I feel we always tend to mix up formats, we tend to drop here and there, and we tend to associate form with certain formats. The Test format is done. As far as ODIs are concerned, Shubman Gill is our top player, and I think he should go to the World Cup. I don’t think his form is a concern. I’m sure he’ll be back with a bang,” he further added.

Wait who looks at the record for most runs scored after 26 odis? 26 odis is such a random number. I mean Kuch bhee. It's like saying Saud Shakeel scored more runs than Sachin Tendulkar after 7 tests. The way Shubman Gill is going down hill it won't be surprising if he is dropped
