Indian Cricket Board’s Chief of the Selection Committee Chetan Sharma has found himself in deep waters as a video of his sting operation was released online. Sharma made many shocking revelations about Indian cricket in the leaked video. Now, amidst all these controversies, it has been reported that he will be fired from his post.
The chief selector has revealed an intriguing angle in the famous Sourav Ganguly-Virat Kohli feud, stating that Ganguly had asked the then-Indian captain to reconsider his decision to step down as captain of the T20I team. Sharma claimed that Kohli may not have heard the former chief’s plea and attempted to smear the former Indian captain’s image in the media during the South Africa tour.
The sting operation revealed that the former president of the Indian Cricket Board wanted only one captain for the white-ball formats, hoping Kohli would continue to lead the side in the longest format of the game.

It should be noted that the Board fired Chetan and the entire selection committee following a disastrous 20 World Cup campaign. After a month, however, the former World Champion was reappointed as chairman of selectors. Now that the cricketers are dissatisfied, he is likely to be fired again.
“His days are obviously numbered. It will be very difficult for the players to trust him after his words came public. But it will be decided only after the internal investigation. But there is a possibility that he quits himself. We will know after meeting with him,” the Indian Cricket Board source said.
“The BCCI, including board President Roger Binny and Secretary, Jay Shah, are extremely unhappy and sad with the sting operation and an official action against Sharma is writing on the walls.
“BCCI was extremely jubilant with how the Women’s IPL Auction went ahead just a day ago ahead of the Sting operation and with now everything coming up in front, Sharma’s future holds nothing but dark clouds,” the source further added.
