Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni is reported to be retiring after the ongoing IPL 2023. Ahead of the season, one of the CSK officials had reportedly said that they believe Dhoni might retire after the ongoing tournament.
“We believe it will be his last as he wants to say goodbye at his favourite stadium. In any case, we should have clarity by the start of IPL,” a CSK official told InsideSport.
“MS hasn’t informed us about his decision. And of course, there is no pressure on him to take a call anytime soon. He is our leader and he will only do what’s best for the team. As far as the management is concerned, MS has full backing on whether he wants to continue beyond this season,” the CSK official said.
However, after the four-time winners have played 13 games in the ongoing 16th season, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said claimed that the former India skipper might play next year too.
“We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well, so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.

Don’t hurt our feelings by retiring: Harbhajan Singh on MS Dhoni
Since the reports of Dhoni’s retirement emerged in February this year, the fans have pretty much prepared themselves to watch him hang his boots. Meanwhile, former India off-spinner and Dhoni’s teammate in India and CSK side, Harbhajan Singh has different sentiments. the latter urged Dhoni not to retire and continue playing in the tournament.
“MS Dhoni has stopped time. He still looks the same old Dhoni. He’s hitting those big shots, taking those singles. Although he’s not running at his full speed, he’s hitting those sixes at ease and still looks dangerous with the bat. Don’t hurt our feelings MSD. You should continue playing,” the India legend said on Star Sports.
