‘Delhi se hai…’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli spotted leaving Arun Jaitley Stadium in black Porsche after training for second BGT Test

The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series kicks off on Friday, February 17.

Virat Kohli spotted in Delhi

Delhi boy Virat Kohli has become a scarce animal in the national capital since shifting to Mumbai in 2016. Naturally, fans in Delhi get excited whenever the local lad is in town. A similar incident occurred on Thursday morning as Kohli shared an Instagram story saying he’d be driving to the Arun Jaitley Stadium for a morning training session ahead of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series.

His fans cranked up in huge numbers to try and catch a glimpse of the star India batter, who recently announced his arrival to form in the limited-overs game. However, the same cannot be said about Kohli’s recent performances in the game’s longest format. His last Test century came in the year 2019. He has struggled with a string of low scores in Tests, and the same was on display in the first Test of the BGT series in Nagpur.

Kohli scored just 12 runs in the first Test of the BGT

Fans anticipated a spectacular return to the red-ball game for Virat Kohli. But, unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the Delhi boy as he got out at a score of 12. Since India won by a margin of an innings and 132 runs, there was no second chance for Kohli to make amends in that game.

Kohli has had some memorable outings in Delhi, including his first home game as India captain, when he smashed 44 and 88 in the Test against South Africa back in 2015. A couple of years later, he smashed an exceptional 243 runs in a single innings in a Test against Sri Lanka. The upcoming game at his home ground could be the one to break his Test century drought.

Since then, he has only played one game in Delhi, an ODI against Australia in 2019. Therefore, the hype among fans in Delhi to watch the local lad in action is presumably high. The second BGT Test kicks off Friday, 17 February.

Here’s how fans reacted to the scarce Kohli-spotting in Delhi and his swanky black Porsche:
