The West Indies defeated India 3-2 in the last game of the five-game T20I series, with Nicholas Pooran finishing as the series’ top run scorer. The Windies defeated India in a bilateral series for the first time since 2016. Pooran won the Player of the Series title on Sunday after scoring 47 off 35 pitches.
The Lucknow Super Giants batter also had the war marks that were visible for one of his most recent innings. The southpaw would upload a picture of the bruises he received from an Arshdeep Singh ball that struck him in the midsection and another Brandon King stroke that struck his left forearm while being at the other end. Nicholas Pooran took to social media and posted a picture with a cheeky caption, “The after-effects thank you, Brandon King and Arshdeep.”
Hardik Pandya’s statement after the series loss against the West Indies
Indian team skipper Hardik Pandya spoke to the media “If you see, we lost that period post ten overs. Since when I came, I wasn’t able to capitalize and I took my time and could not finish. (On the decision to bat first) I believe that as a group we have to challenge ourselves. All these games are the games where we have to learn. We have spoken as a group that whenever we can take the hard way we will. In hindsight, one series here or there does not matter but the commitment to the goal is important.”
The Gujarat Titans skipper was asked about the 2024 T20 World Cup in the United States of America and West Indies. He said, “It’s a long way. We have the ODI World Cup coming up. You get to learn a lot. And a special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that.”
