Ravindra Jadeja has reportedly been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. The all-rounder sustained an upper-body injury during the game against Bangalore recently, which the defending champions Chennai lost. After this game, the yellow army played another game against Delhi, which they won by a huge margin. They have currently won four out of their 11 games.
Meanwhile, in the last couple of days, the fitness of the all-rounder has been assessed and it hasn’t gotten any better. With the team looking to win every game as they still have a slight chance of qualifying for the playoffs, they wouldn’t want to risk the fitness of the Saurashtra player.
“The CSK camp assessed his injury for the last couple of days but it hasn’t exactly got better. Now with the tournament reaching its business end and CSK to take on Mumbai Indians on Thursday, the team management may not risk him any further,†Times Of India reported.
The 33-year-old had a tough time in his first stint as Chennai’s captain. The team lost six of their first eight games. Thus, he handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni. Ironically, it was the keeper-batter who had handed him the leadership role prior to the commencement of this edition. Recently, the franchise also unfollowed the left-hander on Instagram.
This has led to rumours of a rift between the player and the franchise. Also, he has had a tough time with the bat and ball. With the bat, he is having a poor season with 116 runs in 10 games averaging 19.33. Talking about his bowling, he has had a forgettable season with only five wickets at an average of 49.60. His side will play their next game on May 12 against arch-rivals Mumbai.
It will be interesting to see whether he plays in the game or not. If the reports are to be believed, then he might not participate any further in the 15th season of the cash-rich league.
