Chennai CEO makes big statement about rumoured rift between Ravindra Jadeja and franchise
Ravindra Jadeja has been synonymous with Chennai
The ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 hasn’t really been kind to Ravindra Jadeja. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, he was appointed as Chennai’s captain. However, his maiden captaincy stint was below-par, to say the least.
The Chennai-based franchise lost six out of their eight games under his leadership. Besides, he wasn’t able to contribute with either the bat or the ball. Thus, he handed over the captaincy back to MS Dhoni. To make matters worse, Jadeja suffered an injury during their game against Bangalore.
Due to which, he had to miss Chennai’s game against Delhi. After which, he was ruled out of the remaining part of the 2022 edition. To add salt to his wounds, Chennai recently unfollowed him on Instagram as well. Thus, several people on social media started to speculate about a rift between the four-time champions and Ravindra Jadeja. Chennai’s CEO Kasi Vishwanath recently spoke about the same, and stated that the southpaw had to be ruled out due to an injury, and nothing else.
“Jaddu had an injury during the game against Bangalore, and after that, he didn’t play the game against Delhi. On medical advice, it has been decided that he cannot participate further in this ITL, and he is heading back home. He has been released,” read the statement of Kasi Vishwanath, as quoted by Sports Tiger.
Further on, he clearly stated that there is no rift between Jadeja and the franchise. He said that he doesn’t follow anything on social media. While mentioning that there are no issues, Kasi also said that Jadeja is the scheme of things for the future as well.
“Social media, I do not follow anything. I do not know what is going on there. I can tell you that from the management side, there has been no problem, and whatever is there on social media, I’m not aware. Ravindra Jadeja firmly remains in the Chennai’s scheme of things for the future, always,” he added. As for the defending champions, they have won four out of their 11 games, and are currently placed ninth on the points table. They are scheduled to face Mumbai on May 12.
