‘Chalo kuch to achha kr rahe h ye log’ – Fans react as Indian Cricket Board plants more than 1 lakh saplings across four states in India

the Indian Cricket Team is set to start their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.

Jay Shah

As India sets to organise the ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian Cricket Board continues to honour the game. After promising to plant more than 1.4 lakh saplings to protect nature, Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah planted the 1,00,000th sapling in Ahmedabad today.

Mr Shah planted the sapling in Narendra Modi Stadium, where the inaugural game of the World Cup is set to take place. It’s worth noting that this work has been done under the Board’s Green Dot initiative. According to this, for each dot ball bowled in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2023, the board planted 500 saplings.

It’s worth noting that the saplings have been planted in four states, including Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, and Assam. The initiative is a joint effort of the Indian Cricket Board and the Tata Memorial Trust. A total of 294 dot balls were bowled during the four play-off games in the tournament, which supported the plantation of around 1,47,000 saplings in the four states.

India is set to host the ODI World Cup for the first time

Amid all these things, India is set to host the biggest cricket carnival of all time. The ODI World Cup is set to take place from October 5 to November 19 across 12 venues in India. The first game between defending champions England and 2019’s runner-up New Zealand will take place on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, the Indian Cricket Team, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, is set to start their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The team will also face arch-rival Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. It’s worth noting that India has defeated both of these teams by a huge margin in recent months.
