The team bus carrying Baroda Women’s cricketers has met with an accident while going to Viza Airport with the team. The incident happened after Baroda Women’s team’s match with Saurashtra which the Baroda team won by 7 wickets.
As per the eyewitnesses, a truck suddenly braked in front of the team bus which resulted in the bus hitting the truck from the driver’s side. The incident happened at the Taichetlapalem National Highway in Vishakhatanam. As per the reports, four people have been injured during the accident.
The Baroda team were coming off a six-wicket win against Saurashtra when the accident happened. Local police soon turned up at the spot after getting a tip-off from a passerby. More information about the accident is awaited.
As for the match, it was an easy win for the Baroda team at the Dr P.V.G Raju ACA Sports Complex, Vijayanagaram (Andhra Pradesh). Yastika Bhatia scored a match-winning 64 off of 60 balls to take her team to a defendable score. Amrita Joseph scored 24 and played a helping hand to Baroda’s scoreline. Apart from these two, however, none of the other batters could play important knocks.
Baroda Women’s team was taking part in the 14th edition of the Senior Women’s T20 League on October 11 with the final schedule for November 5th. The knockout stages will begin on October 30 and the final of the tournament is scheduled to be hosted in Bangalore.
A number of Indian national team players are playing in the Senior Women’s T20 League. Recently the Indian Women’s team won the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 held in Bangladesh. The team defeated Bangladesh in the final after getting past Pakistan in the Super Four.
