After winning the first match of the ongoing ODI series against Australia, India faced the visitors in the series’ second match in Visakhapatnam. Unlike the first match, however, Australia completely dominated the proceedings. The team led by Steve Smith won by 10 wickets, tying the three-match series.

Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first on a wicket with some swing. This worked out really well for them as Mitchell Starc was on song right from the start. The pacer got the wicket of Shubman Gill in the first over itself and this set the tone for Australia’s bowling performance.

After that, India kept losing wickets at one end as Virat Kohli tried to get some runs under his belt. He got 31 runs in 35 balls but did not last long as he was dismissed by Nathan Ellis in the 16th over of the innings. Only Axar Patel looked like getting some good runs for India after that.

He took India’s total past 100 with a score of 29 runs in 29 balls but did not get any support from the tail-enders. In the end, Australia restricted India to a score of 117 in 26 overs thanks to Starc’s excellent five-wicket haul. Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis also took 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.

After that, the chase was a piece of cake for the Australian openers. Mitchell Marsh continued his form from the previous game and was supported well by Travis Head. The two did not lose their wickets and got their team across the line. The two completed their half-centuries and stayed unbeaten until the end.

While Marsh scored 66 runs in 36 balls, Head scored 51 runs in the 30 balls that he faced. It took the two just 11 overs to chase down the small target set by India. The series is now levelled at 1-1 and the two teams will meet in Chennai.
