Bollywood star to a businessman:
Govinda debuted in Bollywood a year prior to ‘Insaniyat Ke Dushman’ with the popular movie ‘Ilzaam’ (1986). Following his debut, Sumeet began to draw comparisons with Govinda. Rumours also circulated that the producers might sign Sumeet if Govinda was preoccupied with a movie. Subsequently, Sumeet featured in a number of films, including Pati Patni Aur Tawaif (1990), Lashkar (1989), Imaandaar (1987), Param Dharam (1987), and Gunaah (1993). Sumeet stopped acting after 30 films; Saajan Ki Baahon Mein (1995) was his final film role.
Sumeet established the production company Sumeet Arts after quitting acting and dubbing South films into Hindi. The horror movie ‘Rokkkk‘ was also produced by Sumeet in 2010. Prior to that, Sumeet also dabbled in directing, helming a music video for the 2007 film ‘Red: The Dark Side.’
In terms of personal life, Sumeet was wed to Shaheen Banu, a Saira Banu niece, and the couple had a daughter named Sayyeshaa, who debuted in ‘Shivaay‘. In 2003, the couple filed for divorce. Afterwards, Sumeet wed Farah Naaz, Tabu’s elder sister.
