Amid the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League, Indian Cricket Board is reportedly working on allowing Indian Players in foreign leagues. In a recent news report, it has been revealed that ICB is in talks with Saudi Cricket Board to create a framework to allow Indian Players in the proposed league of Saudi Arabia.
According to the report, government officials from Saudi Arabia have held a meeting with Indian Premier League franchise owners to discuss the roadmap of the proposed league. It has been reported by The Age that some coaches have spoken about it with the media house but requested to be quoted as anonymous. Meanwhile, it is also revealed that Saudi Cricket Board is looking to convince ICB to change its rules and allow Indian Players to participate in the proposed world’s richest league.
It’s worth mentioning that any league in the world will require a Non-objection Certificate from the Apex Council of the game. And according to the reports, International Cricket Board is looking to allow the league as it will help to grow the game in the Arab countries.
Two new leagues started this year
Earlier, this year two new leagues have been started in South Africa and UAE. The leagues have included franchises from the Indian Premier League to increase interest in the game. Notably, franchises like Mumbai Indians, Delhi India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals have bought a team in SA20 and International T20 League.
Although, Indian Players are banned from participating in any foreign leagues to just maintain the exclusivity of the Indian Premier League. It will be interesting to see how Indian Cricket Board will dent its biggest income source by allowing Indian Players in the foreign leagues. Meanwhile, fans are not happy with the news report and are concerned about IPL. A Twitter user said, “This is not going to help the game.”

BCCI doesn't give permission to their players to play in other franchise league but want foreign players to play in their league. Double standard. Even franchisers & fans gets disappointed if foreign players don't get permission to play when their national team plays.

If they are really changing the rule, don't limit it just for Saudi. Let Indian players go to Australia, England and SA as well. Even uncapped Indians can become household names overnight. Plus, they will gain experience in playing in those conditions which will benefit in a WC

BCCI never compromise the exclusivity of indian player in other league as this is the reason why IPL is biggest league. They can allow only retired players to play
