After Day 5 in Port of Spain was postponed due to rain on Monday, India clinched the series over West Indies 1-0. The umpires scheduled the post-lunch session at 10:45 PM IST after the umpires originally had to cancel the first session due to flooding. But the second session was postponed when rain started to fall again.
The match was scheduled to continue at 11:10 PM IST when the rain once more ceased and the covers came off. However the weather lords had other ideas, and the blankets were pulled back up when there were black clouds and then a lot of rain. Despite the fact that the second Test contest finished in a draw, India won the series thanks to their first triumph in the first game.
On day 5, the West Indies required 289 runs to tie the series while India needed eight wickets to win. However, none did because of the venue’s intense rain, which compelled both captains to end the game early.
India has now won nine straight Test series against the West Indies. During the second Test innings, India also set a record for the quickest team to notch up 100 runs when they achieved this feat in just 12.2 overs.
Mohammad Siraj and his performances!
With his career-best numbers of 23.4-6-60-5 in the first innings, which saw the Windies fall from 229/5 to 255 all-out on the fourth day, Mohammed Siraj was named player of the match.
Rohit Sharma, the Indian team skipper spoke to the reporters after the day was called off as he said that they had a chance to win but rain had other ideas. He said, “Every win is different. Playing in the West Indies has its own challenge. but happy with the way things went. We gave it a good shot, unfortunately, we couldn’t get any play today. We went out with a positive intent yesterday, however, the rain had its final say.”

Poor captaincy by Rohit Sharma, couldn’t crack a deal with the Rain Gods, should’ve been a 2-0. Sack him.
