‘Big Stars of Team India Always Create Pressure…’ – Umpire Nitin Menon puts out a debatable comment

In the recent time, one major aspect which have been highlighted the most in Cricket is certainly umpiring. It’s debatable whether it’s the easiest job in the world to serve as an umpire in India or during a game involving the Indian cricket team. More people are captivated by the game than in any other cricket match taking place in the world thanks to the country’s enormous fan base.

A minor mistake sparks heated discussions and criticism across all social media channels. Nitin Menon asserts that rather than external factors, the stress for him comes from the prominent members of Team India. Menon received a lot of responsibilities back home throughout the Covid limitations, as well as at the two T20 World Cup matches between Australia and the UAE. Menon has now officiated in 15 Tests, 24 ODIs, and 20 T20Is since being added to the ICC Elite Panel in June 2020.

Interestingly, Menon shared that he finds standing in overseas matches much easier than at home in India.

“When India play in India there is a lot of hype, lot of big stars in the Indian team they always try to create pressure on you, they always try to get those 50-50 decisions in favor of them but if we are in control of ourselves under pressure, then we don’t focus on what they are trying to do. It just shows that I am strong enough to handle any situation rather than getting working up by the pressure created by players. That has given me a lot of self-confidence,” Menon told.

Menon will feature in the third Test match of the five-game Ashes series 2023 and having the knowledge of umpiring a game in England last year, Menon certainly knows a thing or so about umpiring in those conditions.

“It will be a great series. I was there last year in England when they hosted South Africa. I could actually see what ‘Bazball’ is. So I know what to expect. Australia have a fantastic bowling line up and the England the way they are playing are redefining test cricket.
