In an attempt to benefit from the dew in the second innings, Australia elected to bowl first. India was rocked early on, as Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as Ishan Kishan left without making much of an impact.
However, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav stabilised the ship after that. Before the skipper left due to an excellent ball from Aaron Hardie, the two had accumulated 57 runs. Ruturaj continued unfazed and seized all authority after that. After reaching his fifty, the graceful opener changed tack quickly and reached his first T20I tonne with ease.
During the 18th over, Hardie scored 25 runs, and in the last over, Maxwell let up 30 runs. Ruturaj caused unimaginable havoc and moved India one game closer to winning the series. India posted a daunting total of 222 runs after their 20 overs. Australia’s task of coming back into the series took a serious hit with such a big total on the scoreboard.
Maxwell mayhem delivered stunning win for Australia
Australia got off to a fast start thanks to Travis Head and Hardie. However, they were unable to continue as they experienced a bit of a downturn in the middle, with a few wickets falling.
When Maxwell arrived on the pitch, the momentum continued. In the last over, Maxwell reached his century and Matthew Wade had a significant impact as well. The contest was in Maxwell territory as Australia required quick runs and that is something that only Maxwell could have done.
After this game, he is scheduled to return home, and he has given his team a final present of a victory before doing so. Australia was constantly in the hunt, and when things got close, a little magic from Maxwell pulled them through.
The most difficult duty of the evening fell to Prasidh Krishna, who had to save 21 runs from the final over. Beyond that, he was bowling to Maxwell in the ring with an additional fielder. The encounter was a high-scoring one as Australia came through with a crucial victory to fight for the series in the final two games.
