The Chennai Super Kings are enjoying a fantastic season in the Indian Premier League 2023, having won 4 of their six games so far. However, they are still battling with some big injury worries. While Deepak Chahar is out with a hamstring injury, veteran all-rounder Ben Stokes is out with a toe injury.
Though Chahar played in the nets before Friday’s home game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and may return shortly, the Englishmen will be out for another week. Stokes, one of the most expensive CSK players in IPL history, had a rough start to the season. After appearing in the first two games, he sustained an injury and was forced to miss the next four.
The injury ‘isn’t major,’ according to head coach Stephen Fleming, and the all-rounder is working hard to ‘get right’. “Ben Stokes has suffered an injury setback and will be out for a week,” Fleming said in the post-match press conference after CSK beat SRH by seven wickets on Friday.
“Stokes, just a setback, I’m not gonna go into it, but it’s not major. It’s just he’s close. He’s working really hard to get right, can’t fault that at all. So, he just needs a little bit of luck,” he added.
MS is completely fine: Stephen Fleming
Fleming also addressed MS Dhoni‘s knee injury, which upset CSK supporters more than the management. The good news is that the captain is doing well with his injuries and there is nothing to worry about. “MS is completely fine. He is managing his injury well. He is available. He always keeps the team first. If he knows he can’t contribute because of injury, he would have sat out himself. There is no concern with him,” said Fleming.
