Bangladesh won the ODI series against India and much to the dolefulness of the Bangladeshi fans, the Shakib Al Hasan-led team failed to win the two-match Test series, with the KL Rahul-led Indian team securing the series 2-0. Mismanagement is one of the very few reasons that the Bangla Tigers are struggling and their board is yet to sort things out.
Shakib, the veteran Bangladeshi allrounder, opened up on the same and said that he would like to turn things around and added that he would like to be appointed as the CEO of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for a day. The southpaw said that he would correct all of the issues and cited the famous ‘Nayak’ movie as an example.
“If they made me the BPL CEO, it would take me 1-2 months to correct everything. We’ve seen the movie ‘Nayak’. If you want to do something, you can do it in one day,” Shakib was quoted as saying. Although it is highly unlikely and completely out of reality, the message, however, was true and from his heart.
I don’t see what’s stopping us: Shakib Al Hasan
“I don’t see what’s stopping us if we have the willingness (to correct things). If we are willing, I don’t see any reason not to have the DRS, the draft or auction not being held three months in advance, or the teams wouldn’t be confirmed two months in advance. The players are only available for one or two matches. Nobody really knows for how long they are available,” Shakib was quoted as saying.
“I saw in the news that the jersey is not ready. It is a messy situation. Maybe our DPL (Dhaka Premier League) is more organised. They can arrange the team ahead of time. They know what their team is going to be. Every DPL team knows who is playing where for the next edition,” he added.
“We don’t really know what’s going in the BPL. It only starts when the BPL matches start. Tournament starts from January 6. There’s no BPL before that. Before this, everyone is practicing on their own,” said the Bangladeshi star further.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Shakib Al Hasan’s comments:
