In the 2nd ODI between India and South Africa at St George’s Park, the Gqeberha Indian batters failed to put up a show. From opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, all failed to outplay the Proteas bowling line-up. However, fans were especially disappointed with Samson’s batting performance.

The Rajasthan Royals skipper has constantly failed to perform up to his mark on the international stage. In today’s game, he scored 12 runs off 23 balls with the help of a four. His lacklustre performance might lead India to see beyond him in the upcoming games. It’s worth noting that he is one of the contenders for a place in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean.

Indian batters failed to perform against South Africa

Earlier, in the game, South African skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first. India, being forced to bat first, had a poor start. The visitors lost two wickets for a mere 46 runs as openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma failed to put up a show. They were dismissed by pacer Nandre Burger for 4 and 10 runs exclusively.

After their departure, Sai Sudarshan and skipper KL Rahul added 68 runs for the third wicket. Sudarshan, in his innings, scored 62 runs off 83 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. Rahul, in his innings, scored 56 runs off 64 balls with the help of seven fours. In the end, India failed to control their innings as they lost nine wickets for a mere 204 runs in 45 overs.
