In the high-voltage game against Pakistan, India won the toss and opted to field first. Skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision went well with the team as India restricted arch-rivals to a mere 191 runs. However, earlier in the game, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar slammed Rohit’s decision and called it suicidal.

Speaking about the toss and pitch conditions, Akhtar said, “Rohit Sharma won the toss, and he chose to bowl on such a good wicket. I cannot understand why he did that. It was not a wise decision and certainly was a wrong decision.” Further, he expressed his happiness that Pakistan is batting first and the team might score big runs.

“I am happy that Pakistan got to bat. It is a ‘paataa’ wicket, and I think India has given Pakistan a chance to score some big runs,” he added. However, contrary to his expectations, Indian bowlers made a blistering comeback after a poor start. After losing two wickets quickly, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan formed a partnership, which troubled the Indian team.

Mohammad Siraj made an amazing comeback

In the first half of the game, Pakistani batters dominated Siraj and scored runs against him. However, Siraj made a blistering comeback as he dismissed Babar Azam. Babar, in his innings, scored 50 runs off 58 balls with the help of seven boundaries. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Mohammad Rizwan as looking dangerous.

Rizwan, in his innings, scored 49 runs off 69 balls with the help of seven boundaries. It’s worth noting that at one moment Pakistan was at 155/2, and soon they collapsed and finished at 191/10 in 42.5 overs. For India, Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya clinched two wickets each. If India successfully chases this target team, they will continue their winning run against Pakistan in the World Cup.
