Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has picked his favourites in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and declared Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni as the cash-rich league’s Greatest of All Time (GOAT). In a recent interaction with Jio Cinema, the veteran cricketer picked his favourite IPL moment, the best all-rounder, the underrated player and the next big thing in the league.
Karthik, currently playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023, was asked to pick a few favourites and quickly responded while naming Dhoni as the GOAT of the IPL. The former Indian captain has led CSK to four titles, and they also appear to be a strong contender this season.
Dhoni has scored 5039 runs in 241 IPL matches at an average of 39.37 and a strike rate of 155.71. With 24 half-centuries, 348 fours and 25 sixes, he has been a true entertainer since the inception of the league. CSK currently leads the points table in the ongoing IPL after winning five of their seven games.
Who are DK’s other favourites in IPL?
Karthik was then asked to choose his favourite IPL moment, and it was not with his current team. Before representing RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the 37-year-old was part of the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). MI won their first IPL trophy in the 2013 season and Karthik, who was part of their successful journey, chose that winning moment as his favourite.
When asked to select the greatest all-rounder in the league, he couldn’t decide between Shane Watson and Sunil Narine. Karthik chose former Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh as the most underrated player.
When the hosts asked him to pick the next big thing in IPL, he couldn’t narrow it down to just one player and settled with Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, MI‘s middle-order batter Tilak Varma, and GT’s spinner Sai Sudharsan.
Meanwhile, DK has had a tough season this season, scoring just 83 runs from seven matches so far. While he has been a key player for RCB in the last year, he has yet to produce a match-winning innings for the team this season.
