India is set to face West Indies in the first Test at Windsor Park in Dominica on July 12. What makes it more interesting is that this will be India’s first Test match at this ground since 2011. The last time India played at this ground, a young Virat Kohli and the legendary Rahul Dravid were part of the playing XI. Remembering the same frame, India head coach Dravid and Kohli shared a memorable instance from India’s last match at the ground.
Kohli posted a picture with Dravid and shared a nostalgic story. In his Instagram post, Kohli wrote, “The only two guys were part of the last test we played at Dominica in 2011. I never imagined the journey would bring us back here in different capacities. Highly grateful.” It’s worth noting that this upcoming West Indies tour will be very crucial for both Dravid and Kohli.
Former India skipper Kohli would look to get back in form after having a poor time in the recently concluded World Test Championship finals. While Dravid, as a coach, would look to regroup the squad and prepare well for the upcoming World Cup, It will be Dravid’s last assignment as head coach, and he will look to finish it on a high note.
Who will open the inning with skipper Rohit Sharma?
In the upcoming series, Indian team management will have a headache selecting the best XI. In the absence of senior players like KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara, the team would look to experiment in the top order. India will have to choose a new opening partner for skipper Rohit Sharma. Earlier, with Pujara at number three, Rohit used to open with Shubman Gill or KL Rahul.
However, in his absence, Gill might be forced to bat lower in the batting order while young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal can open the inning with Rohit. In the two-day intra-squad warm-up game, Rohit and Jaiswal were spotted batting together while Kohli and Gill batted down the order. It might indicate the plan of the Indian team management. Meanwhile, the team also needs to think about pacers, as senior bowlers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah are not in the squad.

Kohli’s first Test series.
And the beginning of Dhoni’s captaincy slump.
Often wonder why did he not want to win this Test or even make an attempt. Our chase master was due to come in next.— Suvajit Mustafi (@RibsGully) July 10, 2023

I am glad to see that he has a good working relationship with Rahul Dravid..What happened under Kumble's mentorship between him and Virat didn't go down too well for Anil I bet Rahul has got the idea how to work around and get the job done among these superstars of the game..
