Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang assaulted and robbed at his house
As per a report in the Spanish publication El Pais, four men allegedly broke into Aubamenyang’s property at 1 am.
A horrific incident with Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rocked the football world on Monday. Aubameyang and his wife were reportedly threatened with firearms and iron bars by some miscreants on Monday at his home in Castelldefels, Barcelona.
This is the second incident of robbery of a football star in Barcelona in the past few weeks. Earlier, new-signing Robert Lewandowski’s 70,000 euros worth watch was stolen on August 18. The Police were able to recover the watch later on.
As per a report in the Spanish publication El Pais, four men allegedly broke into Aubamenyang’s property at 1 am. Thieves climbed into his garden and threatened the ex-Arsenal captain and his wife until they opened a safe. They stole several jewels as they intimidated Aubameyang and his wife with weapons.
According to the accounts of the eyewitnesses, the robbers fled the scene in a white Audi A3, while the victims have submitted statements to the local police. The Barcelona police are now trying to identify the robbers, who are responsible for the armed robbery at Aubameyang’s house.
A spokeswoman for Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, confirmed they were investigating a violent robbery in Castelldefels but refused to identify the victim, citing privacy rules. “The investigation remains open and we are gathering information,” she told AFP.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang likely to move to Chelsea- Reports
In another development, English club Chelsea has reportedly agreed to pay £18 million to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. The Catalans have finally enlisted French defender Jules Kounde with LaLiga as the centre-back debuted against Real Valladolid on Sunday.
Several other football players in Spain have been also subjected to robberies. In June police arrested six people in connection with the three-million-euro burglary at the house belonging to former Brazil forward Ronaldo. Paris Saint-Germain player Marco Verratti was staying at Ronaldo’s house in Ibiza but was not home when the burglars struck, taking jewellery and money.
Spanish police a few years ago dismantled a gang that had been robbing players’ houses during games.
