The mouthwatering clash between Bangalore and s at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium did not disappoint. Billed as the El-Classico of the Indian T20 League, the match brought all of Bangalore towards the MG Road.

The Faf du Plessis-led Bangalore side won the toss and elected to bowl first inviting Mumbai to put runs on the board. Mumbai got to a poor start as they lost their captain Rohit Sharma at just 1 run. Other opener Ishan Kishan also couldn’t help his team get over the bump as he too left at just 10 off 13.

Cameron Green, one of the costliest signings of the league also failed to justify his price tag as English bowler Reece Topley dismissed the batter at just 5 off 4. It all came down to the young batter Tilak Verma who shouldered Mumbai’s batting and came up with a brilliant 84 off of 46 to take Mumbai’s score at a respectable 171.7. Verma hit 9 fours and 4 sixes to give Mumbai at chance in the game.

It all however came to be unfruitful as Bangalore’s openers Du Plessis and Virat Kohli took Mumbai bowlers to the cleaners to got their team to an easy 8-wicket win. Kohli was the top scorer for the team as he made 82 off 49 with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Du Plessis also lent a helping hand with his sensational 73 off 43 with 5 fours and 6 sixes.

In the end, Kohli and co made it too easy as they walked to the win with 22 balls remaining. Cameron Green (15), Jason Behrendorff (12.33) , Arshad Khan (12) and Hrithik Shokeen (17) had a poor outing as they were smashed all across the field by Bangalore batters.

With this win, Bangalore have moved to 3rd with 2 points and an NRR of 1.981. Meanwhile, Mumbai sink to 8th with 0 points and -1.981 NRR.
