The Indian spin bowlers had the Australian batters in a tangle in Chennai on Sunday. Both India and Australia were starting their campaign for ODI World Cup 2023. Ravindra Jadeja was the star with the ball as he ran through the Australian batting line-up.

India was asked to bowl after Pat Cummins won the toss. Rohit Sharma led India came into the game without Shubman Gill. Ishan Kishan was chosen as his replacement for the game as he was set to open with Rohit Sharma.

The men in blue had Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah as the two seam bowlers. Mohammad Shami was benched to play the three spinners on a turning Chennai wicket. Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja turned the match on its head with their bowling.

Steve Smith was well set on 41 and looking to take his team to score over 240 on a difficult wicket. Jadeja though ensured that did not happen when he spun one ball past Smith’s defence. The Australian deputy skipper was out bowled which left him shell-shocked.

Marnus Labuschagne was feeling bogged down thanks to the Indian spin bowling. The 29-year-old went for a slog only to see KL Rahul complete the catch. Despite taking the DRS the Aussie had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 27.

Two balls later Australia slumped into further trouble when Alex Carey was out for a duck. Jadeja got the Australian wicket-keeper out LBW to leave the Australians reeling. In a space of two overs, Ravindra Jadeja had turned the game in India’s favour.

Kuldeep Yadav also played a key role with two huge wickets for the Indian team. The left-arm wrist spinner first got David Warner out for 41. Glenn Maxwell then lost his leg stump when he was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav for 15.

Ravichandran Ashwin got into the act as he got the wicket of Cameron Green caught by Hardik Pandya at point for 8. Jasprit Bumrah began the day with the wicket of Mitchell Marsh for a duck before getting skipper Pat Cummins for 15.
