According to reports, the Mumbai Indians are planning to offer England’s great bowler Jofra Archer a long-term deal for millions of pounds. Under the conditions of the deal, England would require MI’s agreement to obtain the services of Archer in international cricket.

MI own five franchises (including one WPL team) in various leagues across the world. Archer is presently part of MI-owned franchises in IPL and SA20. Archer may represent the MI-owned teams in all four leagues should he sign a year-long agreement with the organisation.

There has been no official update on this, and it remains to be seen whether Archer will sign a full-time contract with the franchise. In the last two years, the right-arm bowler hasn’t played much cricket. He returned to the game in SA20 earlier this year, but he has only played 11 games since then.

Due to an elbow injury, Archer has already gone home from his ongoing IPL stint. Archer has recovered from his elbow injury and is back in England for rehab ahead of the Ashes series. Archer hasn’t played Test cricket since February 2021.

The five-time IPL champions purchased Archer in the 2022 mega auction for eight crores. The franchise knew very well that Archer won’t be available for IPL 2022. Despite that, MI put a lot of money behind him and he only played 5 games for them in IPL 2023 before returning home.

In addition, the report also stated that Alex Hales, the English opener has also been approached by the franchise for a year-long contract. Hales had been out of international cricket for a long time but made his comeback during the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

In the meantime, MI has been doing well in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. They currently stand third in the points table with 6 wins in 11 games that they have played. They will next play against the Gujarat Titans on the 12th of May.
