Best playing XI of TNPL 2022
The 2022 season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) ended with Lyca Kovai Kings and Chepauk Super Gillies sharing the trophy. The final of the tournament saw Lyca Kovai Kings take on Chepauk Super Gillies.
The former batted 17 overs, while Super Gillies could bat only 4 overs due to incessant rain. The Super Gillies needed to play one more over to yield a result but it couldn’t happen. Suresh Kumar (wicketkeeper)
The right-hander was the highest run-getter for the Kings and second-highest overall with 398 runs in 10 games at an average of 49.75 including three fifties. His strike rate was 157.93 which can be very useful while opening the batting. Also, not to forget, he is a wicketkeeper batter which will cover another important aspect of the game.
2. Baba Aparajith
The 2012 U19-World Cup winner, Baba Aparajith is a top-order batter and was only two runs behind Suresh Kumar. He played for Nellai Royal Kings, who missed on a spot in the final. His average during the season was 56.57 and a strike of 144.52 which is more than enough to compliment an opening batter at the top.
3. Sai Sudharsan
Fans might remember him playing in the Indian T20 League 2022 for Gujarat. Meanwhile, talking about his performance in the TNPL 2022, he scored 336 runs at an average of 48 and strike rate of 140.58 while playing for Kovai.
4. Sanjay Yadav
The all-rounder played nine games and scored 452 runs at an average of 90.40 and strike rate of 186.77, with one century and five fifties. He played for Nellai. Notably, he hit the most sixes this season with 40 sixes to his name.
5. Shahrukh Khan
The right-hander explosive batter had a decent run after coming from a poor season with the bat in the cash-rich league. In TNPL, he scored 187 runs in 10 games at an average of 46.75 which also reflected his finishing ability.
6. Maan K Bafna
The left-handed all-rounder had a terrific season with 182 runs in seven games for IDream Tirrupur Tamizhans. Notably, the team finished in the mid-table and missed out on the playoffs spot by a whisker.
7. Sunny Sandhu
He didn’t score too many runs but his strike was high. Having played for Seichem Madurai Panther, the left-hander struck at 146.93. A player like him can easily bat in the lower-middle order.
8. AB Tanwar
Played for Lyca Kovai, the right-arm medium pacer picked 17 wickets in the tournament. His average of 14.11 and an economy rate of 7.09 during the season was something to adore.
9. Kiran Akash
The right-arm medium pacer picked 12 wickets in 7 games while playing for Madurai Panthers. He picked those wickets at an exceptional strike rate of 12.3 and an economy was 8.10.
10. R Sai Kishore
The Indian T20 League 2022 winner played for Super Gillies and picked 11 wickets. He was superb throughout the tournament, picking 11 wickets at an average and strike rate of 12.63 and 12.5 respectively.
11. Sandeep Warrior
Another right-arm medium pacer, Sandeep Warrior picked 11 wickets in nine games for Super Gillies. He was also the Player of the Match in the washed out final against Kovai. Sandeep completes the best playing XI of the TNPL 2022.
