WATCH: Shubman Gill departs after horrible run-out during fourth day of third Test against England
Shubman Gill was well-set and had his eyes locked in for his second hundred of the series.
Unfortunately, Shubman Gill, the Indian batter, was run out at 91 in the third Test at Rajkot. Before the terrible run-out on Day 4, Gill appeared composed and confident after picking up his overnight tally of 65. Gill was not able to make consecutive hundreds.
Kuldeep went out to attack Tom Hartley during the last delivery of the 64th over. But he was only able to drive the ball to mid-on. Challenging the batter near the non-striker’s end to advance for a single, the left-handed batter had already advanced well down the pitch, taking a few more steps in that direction.
Ben Stokes, the captain of England, handled the ball quickly and threw it in the direction of the bowler. Gill saw the mistake and made the turn a little too late, because he was already rather far down the course. Hartley successfully removed the bails, making the dive to the crease ineffective.
The Gujarat Titans skipper was bowled for a duck in the first innings. But he made a powerful statement with a well-compiled knock in the second innings. This sort of knock would give the batter a lot of confidence ahead of the final two Test matches as well.

Yashasvi Jaiswal returns to bat for Team India
Following Shubman Gill’s unlucky departure, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had to end his innings during the last moments of Day 3 because of a niggle, is back at the wicket. At the same time, the left-handed hitter hopes to extend India’s advantage and build on his century. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had to leave the game on Day 3 due to back spasms, has returned to bat, which is excellent news for Team India. He is batting on 139* as of this writing. Sarfaraz Khan is batting at 17* as a rookie. On Day 4 during the third Test, India is up 425 runs to none.
Later today, Ravichandran Ashwin’s impending return from Chennai would further strengthen the hosts. Day 3 of the match was without the off-spinner since he had to depart Rajkot because of a medical issue in his family.
